Ramkumar and Casselbury Claim ITA Summer Circuit Doubles Title
ITHACA, N.Y. – Rising sophomores Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) and Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) kept busy on the court this summer as the duo captured the ITA Summer Circuit Doubles Championship, held at Cornell University’s Reis Tennis Center.
The pair opened play by defeating Grant Pertile and John Lathrop, 8-4, before advancing against Ethan Chen and Ross Kamin.
Casselbury and Ramkumar then pulled out a close 8-6 victory over Benjamin Biswas and Harry Wang to clinch the doubles title.
“I know that both Blaise and Venk have really worked hard on their games this summer, so I’m happy to see that their hard work is paying off,” commented Delaware head coach Bruce Myers. “I’m excited to get the team back on campus and for the fall season to start in a few weeks.”
Casselbury and Ramkumar also competed individually and finished the weekend with a combined three singles wins.
The ITA Summer Circuit, which began in 1993, provides college tennis players, along with junior players and alumni, the opportunity to compete in organized events during the summer months.
