RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware men’s and women’s tennis squads learned their fates Monday for the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Championships, which will be held April 20-23 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the campus of Elon University.

The Blue Hens women, the No. 5 seed, will open play at 9 a.m. Friday with quarterfinals action against fourth-seeded James Madison.  Earlier this season, JMU (16-7, 3-3 CAA) posted the 5-2 victory over UD (12-6, 4-2 CAA) at Elkton Indoor Tennis. 

Should the Hens advance, Delaware will face either No. 1 William & Mary, No. 8 Drexel or No. 9 Hofstra at 10 a.m. Saturday.  The winner moves on to advance to Sunday’s 10 a.m. championship match.

The men’s championship begins Friday morning at the Burlington Tennis Center as the Blue Hens (9-17, 0-3 CAA) take on top-seeded UNCW (11-8, 0-0 CAA) at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals for the third straight season.

The winner will advance to Saturday’s semifinal contest againast No. 4 College of Charleston or No. 5 James Madison.  The CAA men’s championship is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.  All semifinal and final contests will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Admission is free to all four days of the championship, with both champions earning automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.
