RICHMOND, Va. – With the start of the season less than three weeks away, a trio of Blue Hens were honored by the CAA with preseason accolades.

Senior attackman Andrew Romagnoli, junior LSM Austin Haynes and senior Will Hirschmann were among the Preseason All-CAA team, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Romagnoli and Haynes were on the first team, while Hirschman received recognition as part of the Honorable Mention student-athletes.

Haynes, an All-CAA Second team honoree last spring, anchored the defensive unit that allowed just 10.5 goals per game. He ranked third on the team with 30 groundballs, caused six turnovers and dished out one assists.

Romagnoli was the offensive firepower for the Hens in 2017, leading the teams in goals (34), assists (19) and points (53). He finished second in the CAA in points per game and third in goals per game.

Hirschmann, who earned All-CAA Second Team honors last season, is a two-time captain of the Blue Hens. Last year, he started all 15 games in the midfield, ranking third on the team in scoring (34 points) with 17 goals and 17 assists. He also gabbed 17 ground balls and caused three turnovers.
