RICHMOND, Va. – After clinching their second straight CAA regular season title, the Blue Hens swept CAA field hockey weekly accolades for the second time this season, as announced by the league Tuesday.
Junior Greta Nauck (Krefeld, Germany/Gymnasium am Moltekeplatz) brought home Player of the Week accolades for the fourth time this season while freshman Femke Strien (IJsselstein, The Netherlands/Cals College Nieuwegein) picked up her second-ever Rookie of the Week award.
Nauck posted back-to-back games with two goals in wins at Hofstra and Northeastern and has scored 19 points on nine goals and one assist in her last four games. The forward is UD’s all-time leader and eighth in CAA history with 65 career goals.
Strien registered the first multi-goal game of her career by posting the first two scores of the contest, including the game-winner, versus the Huskies.
The top-seeded Hens (13-4, 6-0 CAA) will take on fourth-seeded Northeastern (8-11, 3-3 CAA) in back-to-back contests, as Delaware hosts the Huskies at 3 p.m. Friday in the first game of the CAA semifinals at Fred P. Rullo Stadium. William & Mary and James Madison will face off in the day’s other semifinals contest at 6 p.m. Sunday’s championship game is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
