PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The University of Delaware rowing team opened its 2016 fall season last Saturday by competing in the Navy Day Regatta.

The Blue Hens finished in third place out of 23 teams in the Collegiate 4+ race, crossing the line with a time of 15:57.29.

Delaware had three boats compete in the Collegiate JV8+ race, as the "A" boat finished fourth of 16 squads in 15:24.94, the "B" boat was seventh in 15:44.01, and the "C" boat came in 11th in 16:36.89.

The Blue Hens wrapped up the day by placing fifth out of 26 boats in the Collegiate Open 8+ by finishing with a time of 15:06.16.

“We had strong racing across all boats and room for improvement," said UD head coach Kevin Gruber. "Today was a great kick off to the 2016-17 season.”
