NEWARK, Del. -- For the first time in over 40 years, Delaware men's soccer will host an NCAA Tournament first round game at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
The Hens (14-4-1) will host BIG EAST member St. John's (10-6-2), tonight, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The winner will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to face University of Virgina on Sunday, Nov. 24.
Delaware, who was elminated in the semifinals the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament on penalty kicks (7-6) by eventual champion Drexel, is making its second NCAA appearance in three years. The Blue Hens received an at-large bid to the 48-team bracket thanks to its program best 14 overall season wins. It is the programs fourth-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
St. John's, who also received an at-large bid to the Tournament, are unbeaten in its last four games earning big wins over Seton Hall and Georgetown. The Red Storm played to a 0-0 double overtime tie against the No. 9 seed, Marquette.
General admission for the 2013 NCAA Tournament at Delaware Mini-Stadium is $10 for adults and $7 for youth (18 and younger). All participating institution’s student admission is $7 with a valid student ID.
