Blue Hens Volleyball teamed with Olivia Calbazana, the team's adopted family member, and her family to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month during the month of September. The team hosted a special Alex's Lemonade Stand to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer during their match on Friday, September 24.
Olivia, a five-year-old who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 2008, has been a special member of the Blue Hen family since October of 2009, as coach Bonnie Kenny and players have adopted her as a teammate and friend. Through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, the Delaware volleyball team was paired with Olivia to help provide love and support during her on-going treatments and therapy. Olivia has become an integral part of the team and joined the team as a very special guest coach at the September 24 match as the Blue Hens defeated the Towson Tigers.
