The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team collected drop boxes that benefited soldiers in the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, currently stationed in Ansbach, Germany. This effort was spearheaded by junior midfielder Kalyn McDonough, whose brother serves as a Captain in the United States Army. "My brother was in Afghanistan last Christmas and although he was overwhelmed with packages from my large extended family there were some soldiers that did not receive anything,” said McDonough. “We would like to supply just a little bit of Christmas spirit to those soldiers that are far from their families' holiday celebrations this December."
All items donated were delivered directly to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of the drop box items included a holiday greeting card with a message of support and cheer.
