NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men's basketball standout senior guard Jawan Carter, who led the Blue Hens to a big road win over Lafayette on Saturday, is the National 5 & 10 Stores Inc. Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for Nov. 29.

Carter, a third-year starter from Chester, Pa. (Tatnall School), earned the award for the second time in his career as he posted his second straight 24-point effort as the Blue Hens (2-2) evened their record with a 67-64 win over Lafayette Saturday at Kirby Field House. He hit six free throws in the final minute of play as the Hens snapped an 11-game road losing streak that dated back to last season and won in Easton, Pa. for the first time since Dec. 7, 1968 after 22 straight losses.
The sharp-shooting marketing major, a pre-season second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, also hit four three-pointers and was a perfect 12 for 12 from the foul line as he helped the Blue Hens pull away late to post the non-league win.
Delaware will return to action this Saturday, Dec. 4, when the Hens open CAA action vs. pre-season favorite and 2010 NCAA Tournament participant Old Dominion at 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Carter, who earned second team All-CAA honors a year ago when he averaged 18.0 points per game and drained 74 three-pointers, currently leads the Blue Hens in scoring (13.8 points per game), steals (6), and three-pointers (13) and is shooting 82.4 percent from the foul line.
