NEWARK, Del. - Junior Elena Delle Donne, who led the Blue Hens to their first Colonial Athletic Association title in school history after scoring a game-high 27 points in the 59-43 win over Drexel, is the National 5 & 10 Stores Inc. Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 12.

The Blue Hens won their 20th straight game and their first CAA Tournament crown since they joined the league in the 2001-02 season. No. 7 ranked Delaware last won a conference title in 2001 when the team was still a part of the America East Conference.

"It's amazing and we are all just so excited," said Delle Donne. "After leaving the court with an awful taste in our mouths last year, it's everything we’ve been working for and its nice to share it with such a close knit team. We knew we were not leaving without a championship."

Delle Donne scored 27 points to lead all scorers on the day, while making all six of her free throws. She also pulled down 10 boards and had three blocks. For her efforts, she was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Lauren Carra and Akeema Richards joined her on the All-Tournament team.

Delle Donne leads the nation in scoring with 27.5 points per game and is ranked seventh in free throw-percentage. Earlier in the week at the annual Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Awards Banquet, she was named CAA Player of the year for the second time in three years.

She has collected nine CAA accolades this season and was also named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, the most prestigious honor in women’s college basketball. Delle Donne is also the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for women's basketball.

The Blue Hens, who improved to 30-1 this season, will next be in action at the NCAA Tournament this coming Sunday, March 18 when No. 7 ranked and No. 3 seed Delaware travels to No. 14 seed Arkansas-Little Rock for a first round game in Little Rock, Ark. on Sunday at 5 p.m (ET).
