NEWARK, Del. -- Senior goalkeeper Noelle Diana, who led the resurgent Blue Hen field hockey to a 2-0 mark during a critical week, is the National 5 & 10 Stores Inc. Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week honor for Oct. 24.

Diana, majoring in pre-veterinary medicine with a minor in biology at Delaware, was outstanding in both wins as the Blue Hens knocked off a pair of rivals at Rullo Stadium, blanking Drexel 3-0 on Friday night and handling Towson 3-1 on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Blue Hens honored their three seniors, including Diana, as well as honoring former Delaware field hockey standouts who were invited back as part of Alumni Weekend.
Delaware improved to 8-9 for the season and moved into the thick of the Colonial Athletic Association race with a 3-3 record, putting the team in fourth place in the league standings with two games left to go. The top six teams will advance to the CAA Tournament Nov. 3-6 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
Diana spearheaded the defense in both efforts, collecting six saves vs. Drexel to post her second save of the season. She came back two days later and was outstanding again, making six saves and allowing a single Towson goal, which came with the Hens holding a commanding 3-0 lead early in the second half.
For the season, Diana has started all 17 games and allowed 48 goals for a 2.97 goals against average while recording 111 saves for a .698 save percentage.
A three-year starter in goal for the Hens, Diana has registered 333 career saves to rank No. 5 all-time at Delaware.
Delaware will continue action this week, heading to James Madison Friday for a 7 p.m. game and to Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday for a 12 noon tilt in Richmond.
