Athlete of the Week: Toresha Foster (Women's Indoor Track)

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware freshman sprinter Toresha Foster, who garnered two first places and one second place at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational, is the National 5 & 10 Stores Inc. Best of the Blue Hens Athlete ofthe Week for the period ending Feb. 13.

Foster, a business undeclared major from Bear, Del., won the 400 meters in a time of 56.88 and the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:57.91 with teammates sophomore Lindsay Prettyman, freshman Alex Carroll and freshman Kelly Donovan.

Foster also finished second in the high jump with a score of 5-feet, 3-inches. Prettyman also broke the UD indoor 800 meters record in a of 2:14.35, good for a third-place finish, while freshman Latoya James tied her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.60.

Earlier this season, Foster placed first 4 x 400 meter relay with Carroll, Donovan and Sydney Shepherd at Delaware’s own Thomson Invitational, where the Blue Hens also captured the team title.

Foster was also second in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 3-inches and third in the 200 meters in a time of 26.21.

In Dec., Foster won the high jump with a score of 5-feet, 1-inch and finished third in the 300 meters at the season-opening Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College.

Delaware will finish out the month of February with the Princeton Invitational on Feb. 18 and the Collegiate Challenge at the New York City Armory on Feb. 23.
