WARM COATS & WARM HEARTS COAT DRIVE: 11/11-11/12 (HOMECOMING)
DARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Community service has always been a cornerstone for the University of Delaware Athletics & Recreation Department, and this fall, the department will undertake a unique clothing drive. Delaware Athletics & Recreation Services will be participating in ABC’s Good Morning America’s fifth-annual coat drive, co-sponsored by Burlington Coat Factory as part of the Warm Coats & Warm Hearts drive initiative. Making a difference is easy. Coats should be in good condition, with working closures and no rips or stains.
“I would like to challenge all of our Blue Hen students, fans and alums to join us to make a difference. With the help of Burlington Coat Factory, One Warm Coat, and Good Morning America, we are asking you to help those in need and donate any gently used or new coats that you may have in your closet,” said former Delaware football standout Siddiq Haynes, who will spearhead UD’s efforts. “Winter is approaching and there are a lot of people out there that need coats. We are challenging the entire University of Delaware community to help the cause. Lets help those who are less fortunate, and take care of our community. Dare to make a difference! Go Hens!”
THANK YOU
As a thank you for participating, Delaware fans that donate a gently used coat will receive two (2) free ticket vouchers to a UD men’s or women’s regular season basketball game. In addition, those who donate will receive 10% off an entire purchase at Burlington through January 16, 2012. An innovative addition, customers who participate can tweet a picture of themselves donating a coat, including #WarmCoats, for the chance to appear on a Good Morning America broadcast.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Delaware will be participating in Burlington’s first ever college edition to the coat drive. Nine campuses will feature coat collection events and bins for donations from November 2 through November 12. Participating campuses include University of Pennsylvania; New Jersey Institute of Technology; Penn State University; Delaware State University; Temple University; Rutgers University; Fashion Institute of Technology, Philadelphia University and University of Delaware.
Burlington Coat Factory will launch its annual coat drive at its 460 locations nationwide in October and Good Morning America will kick off the coat drive on air in November, reminding its millions of viewers about the ongoing need for coats all across the country, demonstrating how every day people can help. Since the program’s inception, this joint effort has resulted in the distribution of 792,090 warm coats in working with more than 250 One Warm Coat-affiliated local organizations around the country that keep the coats within the store’s community in which they were donated.
