The most honored softball player in Blue Hen history, Kujala (Delaware '77) captained the first two softball teams at Delaware. She was named the AIAW National Player of the Year in 1977, the highest honor ever received by a Blue Hen female athlete, and set several school records, including batting average in a season (.560) and career (.530). She also was a four-year member of the University of Delaware field hockey team and was tri-captain for the 1976 team that placed fourth at the AIAW national championships. She was the 1977 UD Outstanding Senior Female Athlete. A member of the statewide Delaware Sports Hall of Fame, Kujala also served as head coach of the 1980 Delaware softball team.
