A key figure in Delaware athletics for over 35 years, DeLuca played a prominent role in Blue Hen sports as a member of the University of Delaware Board of Trustees and UD Athletic Council. A 1922 graduate of Delaware, DeLuca was a standout guard for Blue Hen football teams in 1918-20. As a member of the UD Athletic Council, he worked closely with Bob Carpenter in bringing Blue Hen football to the national forefront among small college teams in the 1940s. He was named the University's Outstanding Alumnus in 1956. He passed away in 1985.
