A three-sport standout in track and field, soccer, and basketball, Bill was an outstanding athlete and a life-long ardent supporter of UD athletics. A 1941 graduate of the University of Delaware, Bill earned six varsity letters during his career and served as captain for the track and basketball squads. Once called "the fastest human in Delaware" he was a standout sprinter for the Blue Hens and after graduation was undefeated for seven years in the 440 and 880-yard dash events on the local track circuit. He was an organizer and long-time director of officials for the Delaware Track and Field Club and was one of the founders of the Wilmington Touchdown Club, serving as president for 32 years. He was inducted into the Delaware Sports and Museum Hall of Fame in 1994. He passed away in 1997.
