For nearly 50 years, Elbert used both his voice and his pen to chronicle the rich history of University of Delaware athletics like no one else ever has. Affiliated with the University since his days as a student in the early 1950's, Elbert served as Sports Information Director in 1952-54 and as Alumni Director in 1956-85. He is best known as the "Voice of Blue Hen Football" having served as public address announcer for Blue Hen football games from 1953 until 2002. A gifted writer and diligent researcher, Elbert has penned countless articles and stories regarding the history of Delaware athletics and has published two popular books on Delaware football. Elbert earned his bachelor's degree in 1952 and his master's degree in 1959 from Delaware.
