NEWARK, Del. -- Champions, records-setters, and standout scholar-athletes in the sports of volleyball, field hockey, basketball, football, soccer, and track and field highlight the 2010 University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame class.

The eight-person Class of 2010 includes all-region field hockey player Kelly Cawley, hammer and weight throw record-holder Wade Coleman, all-time winningest men’s soccer head coach Loren Kline, five-time conference distance running champion Kim Mitchell, two-time all-conference volleyball player Emily Rome, former UD men’s basketball all-time scoring leader Greg Smith, 1950’s standout football running back Tony Toto, and four-year standout football quarterback Bill Vergantino. Mitchell, who passed away in 2007, will be honored posthumously.

The 14th induction class was honored in a private ceremony and reception at the Bob Carpenter Center Auditorium on the evening of Friday, Nov. 19 and was introduced on the field at halftime of the Delaware vs. Villanova football game at Delaware Stadium the following afternoon, Nov. 20.

The eight inductees in this year’s class, which features five men and three women representing 11 different Blue Hen sports programs, brings the UD Athletics Hall of Fame membership to 119 former UD greats.
