One of the most accomplished distance runners in Delaware history, Kim enjoyed a record-setting career that saw her capture East Coast Conference individual titles in three different sports and earn induction into the state’s Delaware Track & Field Hall of Fame. A native of Wilmington, Del., she won five ECC titles overall and helped the Blue Hens capture four team titles during her career. She won the 1982 ECC cross country title, posted two other top three finishes, and became only the second runner in UD history to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1984. She won the ECC indoor three-mile run and distance medley relay competitions in 1985 and was named the ECC meet Outstanding Performer that same year when she captured both the 5,000m and 10,000m events outdoors. She earned her degree from Delaware in 1985 and was named the ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for cross country in 1984. Following graduation, she continued running and set several state road race records for her age group. She qualified for the Boston Marathon twice and was inducted into the Pike Creek Valley Running Club Hall of Fame in 1990. She passed away in 2007.
