Delaware Stadium (Tubby Raymond Field), one of the finest football facilities in the country at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level, is also home to the University of Delaware men's and women's lacrosse squads.
Beginning with the 2011 season, the University of Delaware women's lacrosse squad will play all their home games at the venue, including a battle with top-ranked University of Maryland in the home opener Feb. 16. The team previously played its home games at Rullo Stadium.
Beginning with the 2010 season, the Blue Hen men's lacrosse team played all of its home games in the 22,000-seat stadium, giving Delaware the largest playing facility for lacrosse in the Colonial Athletic Association and among the largest in the nation.
Built in 1952, Delaware Stadium featured a grass surface until February, 2010 when an artificial FieldTurf surface was installed by Clark Companies of New Delhi, N.Y., one of the nation’s leaders in turf installation.
A new 40 x 34-foot scoreboard, including a 40 x 16 video screen, was installed prior to the 2008 football season and is located at the North end of Delaware Stadium. Live video play-by-play action, replays, and features are shown throughout football, men's lacrosse, and women's lacrosse games.
Although the 2010 season marked the first year that the UD men's lacrosse played all its games at Delaware Stadium, the Blue Hen had competed periodically in the facility, playing 13 times prior to 2010.
Delaware Stadium's outstanding facilities earned its selection as the host site for the 1984 and 1986 Division I NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship games and for two NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament first round games in May, 2002.
Delaware Stadium was erected in 1952 and enlarged prior to the 1964, 1970, 1972 and the 1975 seasons. The 22,000-seat stadium is the largest in the CAA and one of the largest in the nation at the FCS level.
The stadium received a new look prior to the 2000 season as eight poles of permanent broadcast-quality lights were installed by Musco Lighting. In addition, the South End Zone bleachers were replaced. Blue Hen teams enter Delaware Stadium from a brick runway underneath the stands directly behind the goalposts on gameday.
The Bob Carpenter Center, named in honor of UD’s longtime trustee and supporter, is adjacent to Delaware Stadium and houses the Blue Hen football and basketball programs as well as offices, the Chuck Hall Memorial Weight Room, athletic training facilities, and a VIP center with a view to Delaware Stadium for football and lacrosse games.
The Nelson athletic complex is named in honor of David M. Nelson, Delaware’s longtime football coach, athletic director, and dean who passed away in 1992.
The University of Delaware athletic complex also includes 360-by-180-foot Delaware Field House, eight athletic fields - including 2,000-seat Bob Hannah Stadium, the Delaware Softball Field, the $4.5 million Ice Skating Science Development Center featuring two full-sized ice rinks, and an outdoor swimming pool.

the North
and the East
:
I-95 South to Delaware exit 1-B, Route 896 north. Delaware Stadium is located on the right, after Routes 4/896 intersection and between the Bob Carpenter Center and the Delaware Field House.
- From
the South
and the
West:
I-95 North to Maryland Exit 109B, Route 279 north (also called Route 2). Proceed on this road which becomes Elkton Road into Newark. Turn right at the intersection of Routes 2 (279) and 4. Turn left at intersection of Routes 4/896. The Delaware Stadium is located on the right, between the Bob Carpenter Center and the Delaware Field House.
