Courtney Butterworth begins her seventh season as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Delaware in 2011-12.
Butterworth, who has primary duties with the Blue Hen men's basketball team, returned to Delaware after serving as assistant athletic trainer at Wilmington College during 2007-08, covering 11 sports for the Wildcats.
She was an assistant athletic trainer at Delaware from 2004-06, working with the Blue Hen men's soccer, women's basketball and women's lacrosse teams. She was also an Approvedd Clinical Instructor who supervised athletic training students and served as a teaching assistant.
Butterworth, who graduated from Delaware with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training in 2003, was the head athletic trainer for Smyrna High School during the 2003-04 school year. She earned her master of science degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2002, Butterworth resides in Newark.
