Ellen Reed
Donor Relations and Special Events Manager for Intercollegiate Athletics

Ellen Reed, who spent six years as the administrative assistant within the UD football program, was named to the newly-created position of Donor Relations and Special Events Manager for Intercollegiate Athletics in June, 2010.
Reed previously worked with Blue Hen football head coach K.C. Keeler and his staff from 2005-2010. She handled all clerical and office duties for the UD football staff, maintained a recruiting data base, and assisted with on-campus recruiting visits, travel arrangements, and fundraising events. She was promoted from a staff assistant to administrative assistant in 2004.
In her new position, she works closely with Director of Athletics Development Dr. Scarlett Schmidt and is responsible to create, direct, and coordinate multiple and various high-profile special events to promote and steward athletic donors, athletic prospects, and former student-athlete Athletic affinity groups.
"I am pleased that Ellen is part of the Athletic Development team," said Schmidt in making the announcement. "Her background, work experience and understanding of college athletics will be instrumental in our continued growth."
Reed began her career as a data control analyst within the Appointment Processing Office at the University of Delaware in 1980 before working for six years at W.L. Gore & Associates in Elkton, Md. where she served as a fabrics purchasing buyer and inside sales representative.
After taking time off to raise her children, she worked for eight years as a managing editor with Exam Master Corporation in Middletown, Del. from 1996 until 2004 before returning to UD later that year.
She and her husband, Rob, reside in Middletown, Del. Rob was a former Delaware football player who lettered in 1978 and both their children attended the University of Delaware.
