Kristy Fletcher, a native of Marlton, N.J., joined the University of Delaware athletics staff in 2006 and begins her second year with the Blue Hen staff in 2011-12.
Fletcher held the position of assistant director of athletics marketing for three years and served as director for two years before being promoted to assistant director of athletics for marketing and promotions in September, 2011.
She oversees daily operations of the UD athletics marketing and promotions department, which includes developing and implementing marketing plans, assisting with group sales, acting as liaison to the corporate partnership program, and overseeing all marketing staff.
"Kristy has done an excellent job during her time here and we are excited to have her take the next steps in her career here with us at Delaware as the Director of Athletic Marketing," said UD Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Bernard Muir. "Her attention on enhancing the fan experience along with promoting the stories of our student-athletes is much needed and we are fortunate to have her as part of our team."
Fletcher helped earn the NACMA Silver Winner award for the 2007 football radio campaign entitled Delaware Football...Be Part of the Family, as well as spearheading the marketing efforts that won the NCAA "Pack the House Challenge" for the CAA for UD women's basketball during the 2007-08 and 2009-2010 women's basketball seasons.
During the 2010 season, she created and implemented the marketing plan that generated the highest attendance in a home game for a Delaware team in a sport besides football or basketball in school history.
She was a Dean's list student at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. and earned her degree in business with a minor in international studies in May, 2004.
While at Wake Forest, she served as co-president of the field hockey club team, worked with the Wake Forest athletics department as an office assistant and field hockey statistician, and was active as a volunteer with Special Olympics and with Project Pumpkin, in which college students worked with inner-city youths.
Fletcher began her career in marketing as an intern with Wachovia Securities in Winston-Salem in 2003-04 while a student at Wake Forest and following graduation joined the University of Pennsylvania athletics department as a marketing and ticketing assistant from July, 2004 until June, 2005.
She worked as marketing coordinator for Philadelphia Fresh Foods in Narberth, Pa., handling marketing efforts for the Qdoba Mexican Grill brand throughout the Greater Philadelphia area for six months in 2005 before returning to Penn in November, 2005.
While at Penn, she assisted with and coordinated various marketing and promotional efforts and gameday operations for numerous varsity sports and special events, including the prestigious Penn Relays Carnival held each year at Franklin Field.
She also assisted in the marketing and ticketing offices and in the spring of 2005 was enrolled in Penn's Wharton Business School.
