Gia O'Keefe, a May, 2010 graduate of the University of Delaware, remained at her alma mater as Assistant Fitness Coordinator with the UD Athletics and Recreation Services program.
O'Keefe, a native of Rutherford, N.J., assists UD Fitness Coordinator Christine Klimik with all fitness programs at the University.
O'Keefe earned her degree in health and physical education with honors from the University this past May.
While an undergraduate, she served as a UD Student Fitness Center supervisor/specialist for three years in 2007-10, performing fitness assessments and coordinating personal training sessions. She also taught fitness classes in 2008-09.
In addition, she also was a member of the UD Girl's Basketball Club and served as team president in 2008.
She completed student teaching positions at Oxford (Pa.) Area High School and Cecil Manor (Md.) Elementary School while at Delaware and also served as a substitute teacher with the Rutherford (N.J.) Public School District and as an assistant varsity girl's basketball coach at Rutherford HIgh School in 2009-10.
She has a National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training certification pending and is certified by the American Red Cross in CPR/AED.
