Assistant Coach Austin Longacre

One of the most decorated players in University of Delaware men’s tennis history, Austin Longacre returned to the Blue Hens for the 2012-13 campaign as his first season as an assistant coach.
Delaware head coach Laura Travis, now in her 21st season with the Blue Hens and also a UD alumnus, regarded Longacre as one of the most accomplished Delaware tennis graduates. She continued, “Austin’s on-court record speaks for itself, but more importantly, he shares our team values and our vision to move the Delaware tennis programs forward.”
Longacre was a four-year letter winner for Delaware and is the all-time singles career wins leader with a record of 70-38, all in the number one slot. Additionally, he posted a doubles record of 56-41, also all in the first flight.
A three-time UD Alumni Association/Alexander J. Taylor Team Most Valuable Player, Longacre garnered First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association Doubles and Second Team All-CAA Singles honors as a senior. He finished the season with a singles record of 18-8 in the top spot while going 16-10 in doubles action.
During his junior season, Longacre scored a singles record of 20-5, good for third all-time to sit third on the all-time most wins list.
Longacre put up a school-record 22 singles wins while playing in a school-best 33 matches played as a sophomore.
He earned Second Team All-CAA singles and Third Team All-CAA doubles accolades for both seasons.
Off the court, Longacre was the Vice President of the Delaware Christian Athletes, where he organized recreational-based events such as dodgeball and ultimate Frisbee tournaments in addition to bowling nights. Furthermore, he arranged service projects like Jesus Justice and the Poor and a rebuilding service project in Philadelphia. As Vice President, Longacre also budgeted and allocated funding for all service projects and retreats.
Longacre also interned with the University of Delaware Chief Financial Officer’s office and Global Refuge Internaional.
Additionally, he spent eight years as an assistant tennis professional with Better Tennis LLC in Elkton, Md.
Longacre graduated in 2010 from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s of science degree in finance. Following graduation, Longacre furthered his education by receiving a master’s in business administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he also served two seasons as an assistant tennis coach.
The Orange, Texas native began playing tennis at the age of nine and is the son of Audy and Debbie Longacre, both University of Delaware graduates. Longacre was a four-year tennis standout at Avon Grove High School and won the Pennsylvania singles state championship in 2006.
