NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware junior Hans Gillan, who broke his own school record in the 100 butterfly while leading the Blue Hen men's swimming and diving team to a 184-95 win over Colonial Athletic Association rival Towson Saturday afternoon at Burdick Pool in Towson, Md., is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 12.

Gillan, a first-year transfer from the University of Georgia and a native of Boca Raton, Fla. (North Broward Prep), broke his own mark in the 100-butterfly with a time of 49.90 while leading the UD men.

Earlier in the meet, Gillan teamed with Grady Carter, John Ohlhaver, and Ross Buckwalter to captured the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:34.85

Gillan also placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.92, only a half-second behind winner Eric Pinno of Towson.
