University of Delaware men's basketball guard Sam McMahon is the WilmingtonTrust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 11, 2007.

A 6-5 guard from Lohman, MO (Jefferson City HS/Bridgton Academy), McMahon led the Blue Hen men's basketball squad to a 1-1 week as Delaware knocked off defending Colonial Athletic Association champion UNC Wilmington 78-69 Wednesday night at the Bob Carpenter Center before falling losing at Drexel by a 77-62 score Saturday.

McMahon had a career week, scoring a career-high 26 points in the win over UNC Wilmington and bettering that mark against Drexel with 27 markers. McMahon hit on 9 of 12 shots from the field, knocked down four three-pointers, and had six rebounds vs. UNC Wilmington and followed by hitting 8 of 12 shots from the field, four three-pointers, and pulled four rebounds vs. Drexel.

For the week, McMahon played in two games, averaged 39 minutes played, hit on 17 of 24 shots from the field, 8 of 11 shots from beyond the three-point arc, and 11 of 12 free throws. He averaged 26.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

McMahon is an honor student as a sport management major.
