NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware swimming standout Hans Gillan, who posted two NCAA Provisional qualifying standards and led the Blue Hens to a third place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association this past weekend at George Mason University, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 1.

Gillan, a junior and first-year transfer from the University of Georgia and a native of Boca Raton, Fla. (North Broward Prep), captured two titles at the CAA meet as he won the 100 butterfly with a CAA record time of 47.35 and swam a leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.39.

He also placed second in the 200 freestyle relay, second in the 100 freestyle, and third in the 400 medley relay.

He set four records during the weekend, including a clocking of 1:20.76 in the 200 freestyle relay, 47.35 in the 100 butterfly, 3:18.39 in the 400 medley relay, and 44.25 in the 100 freestyle

His time of 47.35 in the 100 butterfly and 2:57.73 in the 400 freestyle relay met NCAA Provisional qualifying standards.
