NEWARK, Del. -- Amanda Marshall, who led the University of Delaware women's indoor track & field team to its best finish ever at the ECAC Championships last week and posted the second best finish ever by a UD athlete at the event with a record-breaking distance in the weight throw, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 8.

The Delaware women’s posted five All-East performances on the way to an all-time best 16th place team finish at the second and final day of the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

The Blue Hen women enjoyed one of their finest days ever at the ECAC meet as UD athletes posted five top seven finishes and posted the best team finish in school history.

Leading the way was Marshall, who placed third in the weight throw as she broke her own school record with a toss of 58-feet, 3 1/4-inches. Her third place finish was the second best ever by a Blue Hen athlete at the meet behind Candy Cashell, who won the high jump title in 1986.

Marshall, a health and physical education major from Cranbury, N.J. (Hightstown High School), will continue competition for the Blue Hens March 20-21 when the UD women open the outdoor track and field season at the Coastal Carolina (S.C.) Shamrock Invitational and March 21 at the Morgan State Invitational.
