NEWARK, Del. -- Sophomore Michelle Grap, who led the Blue Hen softball team to a 3-1 week, including a weekend split vs. Colonial Athletic Association power Georgia State, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 30.

Grap, a third baseman from Ellicott City, Md. (Centennial High School), batted .615 for the week as she collected 8 hits in 13 at bats while scoring three runs and knocking in three others.

The animal science and pre-veterinarian major has led the Blue Hens to an overall record of 8-11 and a CAA mark of 2-3 heading into a busy week that will include doubleheaders vs. local rivals LaSalle and Villanova during the week and a home weekend three-game set vs. CAA foe UNC Wilmington.

Grap led the Blue Hens to a 3-1 week that included a 7-3, 10-1 sweep at intra-state rival Delaware State and a split at Georgia State that saw the Hens win 8-6 before falling 6-3 in a doubleheader Sunday.

She went 3 for 6, scored a run, and knocked in two others in the sweep over Delaware State and went 5 for 7 with two runs scored and one rbi in the split with Georgia State Sunday.

Grap, who hit .229 as a freshman last spring, currently leads the Blue Hens with a .407 batting average and 11 runs batted in while scoring 10 runs. She has committed just two errors in 51 chances at third base.
