NEWARK, DE -- Junior Tommy Ellison, who led the University of Delaware golf team to a third place finish with a second place individual showing at the Lafayette Invitational this past weekend, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for April 14, 2008.

Ellison, a junior European history major from Bethany Beach, DE (Worcester, MD Prep High School), finished at even par this past weekend at the Lafayette Invitational at Center Valley (PA) Golf Club as he placed second overall and led Delaware to a third place finish in the 25-team field.

Ellison’s second place finish was his best career finish and marked the third time in his career he has placed in the top 10. Ellison, who shot a 71-73-144 to finish at even par on the par 72, 6,703-yard course, also posted his best score in a two-round tournament in his career. He finished just one stroke behind winner Mike Magalski of St. Francis (PA).

Ellison currently leads the Blue Hens with a 74.70 stroke average in 19 rounds of action.

The Blue Hens return to action this Friday through Sunday when Delaware competes in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course in Williamsburg, VA. Ellison placed 45th at the event a year ago.
