NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware senior men's track and field standout Jared Wasser is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 23.

Wasser, a co-captain from North Potomac, MD (Wootton High School), led the Blue Hen men's outdoor track and field team to a fifth place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA this past weekend.

Wasser was the Hens' top finisher, posting three top seven finishes as he placed second in the shot put, second in the hammer, and seventh in the discus to earn 18 of Delaware's 61.5 points.

He posted the second best shot put throw in school history with toss of 53-feet, 3/4-inches, just 18 inches shy of winner Nate Hunter of Northeastern. Wasser also recorded a season-best throw of 155-11 in the hammer to finish second and tossed the hammer 140-feet, 10-inches to place seventh in that event.

Wasser, who has already qualified for the IC4A Championships in the shot put, will be in action this week at the Penn Relays and at the Lehigh Games.
