NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware senior cross country runner Chris Bourke, who led all runners in pacing the Blue Hen men to the team title at the Delaware Invitional Saturday, is the Army ROTC Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending September 21.

Bourke, a senior co-captain and exercise science major at Delaware, covered the eight-kilometer White Clay Creek State Park in a winning time of 26:14.94 to lead all runners and help Delaware capture the team title with 21 points.

The UD men ran past runner-up Navy with LaSalle taking third place and Delaware State finishing fourth.

Delaware's Julia Somers won the women's race and led the Hens to a second place team finish.

Bourke, a native of Media, Pa. and graduate of Strath-Haven High School, defeated runner-up and teammate Nick Pyle by nearly 18 seconds.

Delaware will take this week off and return to action Oct. 2 at the Paul Short Invitational and Lehigh University.
