NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men's tennis freshman Andre Vorobyov, who led the Blue Hens to their second consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Open Team Championship over the weekend, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for September 22, 2008.

Vorobyov, a business management from Brooklyn, N.Y., played his high school tennis at Brooklyn Tech High School.

The Blue Hens won all five matches on Sunday at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., with three of them coming in back draw games, and finished the two-day tournament with a total of 15.5 points.

Vorobyov and senior Nolan Greenberg won the main draw of Flight B and Flight C, respectively. Vorobyov defeated Anson McCook of host Trinity by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, 7-2.

Delaware j unior Austin Longacre won the back draw game in Flight A; Chris Hincker won the back draw game in Flight D, and Sam Barrer and Courtney Scott won the doubles back draw game to slip past Fairfield (14.5) and Trinity (14) in the team standings.
