NEWARK, Del. -- Senior midfielder Darren Christie, who led the much-improved Blue Hen men's soccer team to two wins last week, is the Army ROTC Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending October 5.
Christie, a sociology major from Baring, Swaziland and a third-year transfer from Alabama A&M, scored goals in both Delaware wins as he netted the Blue Hens' second goal in a 2-0 victory over LaSalle and tallied the lone goal in UD's 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association win over James Madison.
Christie leads the Blue Hens in scoring with four total goals this season and has eight goals for his career. He earned third team All-CAA honors a year ago.
The two wins helped Delaware improve its record to 4-6 (1-1 CAA) and surpass the Blue Hens' win total from a year ago. The two-game win streak is the first for Delaware since winning the first two games of the 2006 season.
Delaware will host Drexel Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
