_lg.jpg) NEWARK, DE -- Sophomore Christina Antonopoulos, who led the Delaware women's cross country squad to a fourth place team finish with a top 10 finish of her own at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships last Friday, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Oct. 29, 2007.
The Delaware women, who placed three runners in the top 30, placed fourth at the championships for the third straight year while the UD men, who had five runners in the top 30, improved upon last year’s seventh place showing and placed fourth for the third time in the last four years.
Antonopoulos, a sophomore from York, PA (York Suburban HS) who led the UD women for the fourth straight race, covered the six-kilometer Bethpage State Park course in Farmingdale, NY in 22:18.8 to place eighth overall, improving upon a 20th place finish from last year and posting the highest finish by a UD woman since current teammate Colleen O’Brien placed third at the 2005 CAA meet.
Delaware will continue action Nov. 10 at the NCAA District 2 Championships at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
