NEWARK, Del. -- Sophomore hitter Katie Dennehy, who led the surging University of Delaware volleyball team to key Colonial Athletic Association victories over Hofstra and Northeastern during the week, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 9.

The Blue Hens (15-14, 9-4 CAA) defeated league-leading Northeastern 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-19) on Friday night and followed with a 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19) victory over perennial power Hofstra on Saturday. Both matches were played at UD's Barbara Viera Court.

Delaware has now won eight of its last nine games heading into a non-league match vs. UMBC and CAA regular season finale vs. Towson this week. The CAA Tournament will begin next week.

Dennehy, a sophomore journalism major from Charlotte, N.C. (Providence High School), played a key role in both victories.

She posting a match-high 17 kills to go along with three blocks and two aces in the victory over Northeastern and added a team-high 11 kills in the win over the Pride of Hofstra.
