NEWARK, Del. -- Sophomore setter Jess Chason, who played a pivotal role in leading the Blue Hen volleyball team to its second straight Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championship Monday night in Boston, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 30.

Chason, a sophomore hotel, restaurant, and institutional management major from Harrisburg, N.C. (Cabarrus High School), led the No. 3 seed Blue Hens to a sweep over No. 6 Towson (3-1) in the quarterfinals, over No. 2 Virginia Commonwealth (3-1) in the semifinals, and over top seed and host Northeastern (3-2) in the championship game to win the title for the second straight year and earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Delaware, which won its first round NCAA game a year ago, will find out Sunday who the Hens will play in the opening round.

Chason earned Tournament Most Outstanding Performer accolades after piecing together an amazing performance that guided Delaware (19-15) to the win. She led the Blue Hens with a career-high 59 assists and added 16 digs, three kills, and an ace to round out a phenomenal night.

She also had 48 assists and 16 digs in the win over Towson and 40 assists and 12 digs in the victory over VCU.
