NEWARK, Del. -- Junior guard Jawan Carter, who led the Blue Hen men's basketball team to two victories during the week, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending December 14.

Carter, a business marketing major from Chester, Pa. and a first-year transfer from Saint Joseph's University, enjoyed an outstanding week as the Blue Hens (4-6) defeated Hampton 75-66 Tuesday night in Norfolk, Va. and returned home to down Ohio University 75-66 Saturday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

In the two games during the week, the former All-Stater from Tatnall School hit on 14 of 30 shots from the field, including 7 of 17 from beyond the three-point line, and averaged 22.0 points per game. He also connected on 9 of 10 free throws, pulled five rebounds and dished out five assists.

He scored 23 points in the win over Hampton, draining four three-pointers and hitting of 7 of 12 shots from the field.

Against Ohio University, Carter dropped in 21 poins on 7 of 18 shooting, including three three-pointers, and collected four steals.
