Davison Earns Colonial Athletic
Association Baseball Co-Player of the
Week
RICHMOND,
VA (May 15, 2005)- University of Delaware
junior shortstop Todd Davison (Somers
Point, NJ/St. Augustine) earned the
Colonial Athletic Association's baseball
Co-Player of the Week on Monday and shares
the honor with Hofstra shortstop Josh
Stern.
Davison
batted .632 over the week with four
doubles and a triple while driving in
seven runs and scoring five. He stole four
bases on four attempts and was hit by a
pitch twice and walked three times.
The
junior opened the week with a three hit
performance against Temple as his two
doubles drove in three runs in the Hens
14-0 victory. He stayed quiet against
Rutgers with only a single and an RBI but
erupted once again against James Madison
in the series opener with a four hit
performance. He batted a home run away
from the cycle and drove in three runs
while stealing a base.
When
Delaware clinched it's spot in the CAA
tournament, Davison once again led the
Hens to victory with a three hit game
after being walked twice. He stole three
bases and scored two runs. He ended the
week with a single in the series finale.
Twice this week he batted
3-for-3.
Davison
leads the Hens in batting average against
the CAA with .349 and is batting .294 on
the year.
The
New Jersey native is only the second Blue
Hen to earn CAA Player of the Week as
Bryan Hagerich (Somerset, PA/Somerset)
claimed the honor on March 2.
Josh
Stern shared the honor with Davison as the
Hofstra shortstop batted .524 with four
homers, nine runs scored, and eight RBI in
the Pride's 5-0 week. Earning the CAA's
pitching honor was Hofstra's Jeff Denlea,
who went 3-0with a save a a 0.00 ERA in
four conference games. He allowed just
four hits in 8.1 innings and struck out
five. The conferences Rookie of the Week
came from UNC Wilmington as Daniel
Hargrave batted .462 with three RBI and
four runs scored in the Seahawks 3-0
week.
Delaware
returns home on Wednesday, May 18 for a
single game against Rider slated for 3
p.m. at Bob Hannah Stadium.
