Delaware (17-10, 5-1) got out to a quick start in game one as the Hens put up a four-spot in the first, behind back-to-back singles from Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) and Salvo (East Islip, NY/St. Anthony's), followed by back-to back doubles from Chris Kolodzey (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Maestrales (Delray Beach, FL/Pope John Paul II) which got the ball rolling for the Hens.
Starter Rich McGuire (Wantagh, NY/MacArthur) pitched a complete game, recording 10 strikeouts and two walks. Game two featured more of the same offense for the Hens as they got out to a 10-0 lead before the Dragons could show any life on the scoreboard. The Hens saw Bobby Fry (Anaheim Hills, CA/Canyon) have a four for four game which included a double, his fourth of the year. Kolodzey added two more doubles and Vince Vukovich (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) had his second triple of the season. Gorecki finished the day having gone six for eight at the plate. Delaware's second game starter, Jason Vincent (Seaford, DE/Seaford) pitched a six-hit complete game enroute to a one walk, eight strikeout performance. Delaware will continue its America East series with Drexel (10-17, 2-4) on Sunday with another doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
