Delaware (18-11, 6-2) trailed 1-0 in the fifth inning of the first game. The Hens had opportunities prior to the inning to score, but Drexel starting pitcher Ryan Higgins invited his best friend into the game , the double play, which appeared twice and got the Dragons out of two jams when Delaware runners were in position to score. The Hens got the ball rolling in the fifth when Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) singled home Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge), who reached on a two-out walk. Delaware went ahead for good when Higgins threw a wild pitch, allowing Fahy (Clayton, NJ/Glouester Catholic) to score. Salvo (East Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) singled home Gorecki for the third run of the game.
The Hens added a five spot in the sixth and an eight spot in the seventh to aid senior co-captain Dave Mullin (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) to his fifth victory of the season. He gave up two runs on five hits and had six strikeouts. In the second game, Drexel jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as the Dragons scored two unearned runs off of starting pitcher Vic Sage (Springfield, PA/Springfield). The Hens got on the board in the second as Chris Kolodzey (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) tripled to open the inning and later scored on a Vukovich (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) ground out. Drexel (11-18, 3-5) had a 5-1 lead in the sixth before the Hens came back to tie the score. Delaware scored four runs in the sixth, highlighted by a Bobby Fry (Anaheim Hills, CA/Canyon) double to left that drove home Vukovich and Kolodzey, tying the score at 5-5. Both teams added runs in its next at-bat. Delaware struck when Kolodzey doubled home Salvo, who himself reached on a double. The game was tied at 6-6 in the seventh when Drexel scored on a bases loaded walk to salvage its first win of the four-game weekend series. Delaware will return to action tomorrow as it takes on Temple at Delaware Diamond at 3:00 p.m.
