Delaware (24-15, 11-3 America East) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game one as Casey Fahy (Clayton,NJ/Gloucester Catholic) hit his seventh double to lead off the game. Fahy then stole his 22nd base of the season and scored on a Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) groundout. Hartford (10-26, 3-15 America East) took the lead in the fourth when Matt Marchese reached on an error. Designated hitter Josh Yuhas followed with a double down the right field line, knocking in Marchese. Yuhas then scored off a Carlos Olivo single. Delaware trailed 3-1 in the fifth when Harden (Wilmington, DE/Dickinson) homered to left. Salvo (East Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) singled home Gorecki and Fahy to give the Hens the lead, 4-3. The Hens scored six runs in the inning to end the scoring at 7-3. Peter Maestrales (Delray Beach, FL/Pope John Paul II) added his second triple of the season.
Game two featured the Hens exploding for seven runs in the first inning, batting around and getting a two-run single from Harden and a two-run homer from John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence Twp.). Delaware had doubles from Gorecki, Maestrales and Vince Vukovich (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) while Salvo had two doubles. Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) hit his third homerun of the season. Senior co-captain Dave Mullin (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) pitched five innings for the victory (7-4). Brian Zeigler (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) closed out the game, throwing two innings of perfect baseball. Salvo had four stolen bases in the first game to lead the team as the Hens had 10 steals on the afternoon. The 20-run plateau is a season high for the Hens. They had 19 runs twice this season, against William and Mary and Maine. Delaware and Hartford will close out the four-game set on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Delaware Diamond.
