Delaware (22-15) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first as lead-off batter Fahy (Clayton, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) hit his sixth double of the season, driving the ball down the left field line. With two outs, Kolodzey (Cherry Hill, NJ/East) stepped in and hit his team-leading sixth triple of the season, which scored Fahy. Peter Maestrales (Delray Beach, FL/Pope John Paul II) singled to left field, scoring Kolodzey. Harden (Wilmington, DE/Dickinson) followed the hit parade with his ninth double of the year, scoring Maestrales.
Jeff Romond (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) started the game for the Hens and pitched through three innings. Nick Spiewak (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) pitched three innings and gave up just two hits, one run and two walks. Brian Zeigler (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) closed out the day on the mound pitching two innings of perfect baseball. Matt Dyl pitched five innings of baseball for the Broncs, picking up the win while giving up four runs on five hits. Prior to today's game, Rider University Coach Sonny Pittaro and the Rider baseball program presented Coach Bob Hannah with a portrait of Hannah. Pittaro has coached at Rider for 30 seasons. Delaware has now lost three straight and look to bounce back this weekend as it hosts the University of Hartford at Delaware Diamond for an America East four-game set beginning on Saturday at noon.
