Wilmington (26-7-1) scored first in the first as the lead-off batter Keydrich Doggett singled and later scored on Randy Hottes single to right.
Wilmington regained the lead for good in the bottom half of the second when designated hitter Bob Trzonkowski, who opened the inning with a single off of starting pitcher Vic Sage (Springfield, PA/Springfield), scored an unearned run on a Steve McKee sacrifice fly to center field. Wilmington scored the decisive blow in the bottom of the third when Hottes delivered a three-run homer to right field, scoring Warren Rivell and Steve Hurschman. Hottes went two for three with four RBI on the night. Delaware capitalized on just one other opportunity to score, that coming in the eighth inning. Andrew Salvo (East Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) scored on a Chris Kolodzey (Cherry Hill, NJ/East) single. Salvo led off the inning with a double to right field. Wilmington had an impressive game on the mound from Greg Wilhelder, who went eight innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out eight. Having snapped the 11-game losing streak, the Wildcats still trail in the overall series, 19-7. Delaware will next take to the field on Thursday when the Hens travel to Lawrenceville, NJ and battle Rider for a 3:00 p.m. game time. AGATE DELAWARE (22-14)………..010
