Delaware 9, Delaware State 5 March 11, 2001 Hens Complete Weekend Sweep of Hornets Chris Kolodzey was 3-for-5   NEWARK, DE -- Chris Kolodzey hit his fourth home run of the season to cap a 3-for-5 afternoon at the plate and Jason Vincent struck out seven in six innings of pitching as Delaware completed a weekend sweep of in-state rival Delaware State, 9-5, in baseball action Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. The Blue Hens (4-5) broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth when Mark Puitz singled to left center, stole second and scored on Casey Fahy's two-out single to left. Fahy was thrown out at second on the play to end the threat. Kolodzey's one-out solo blast provided some insurance in the sixth. Puitz, who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored on the day, gave Delaware a two-run cushion with another solo homer in the seventh. It was his first home run as a Blue Hen after transferring from George Mason. Delaware tacked on two more runs in the eighth when designated hitter Frank Fresconi hit a two-out two-run single to score Kolodzey and Peter Maestrales. Delaware State (10-5) jumped out quickly for the second straight day. The Hornets scored a pair of runs in the top of the first. Vincent surrendered a lead-off single to Kelly Williams and a double to Malkum King to open the game. Williams then scored on a wild pitch with King moving to third. Scott Martin followed with an RBI single to plate King. Vincent settled down after that, however. He hurled six innings, striking out seven and walking two in moving to 2-0 on the season.
