Game One: Delaware 4, Princeton 2 Game Two: Delaware 10, Princeton 4 March 25, 2001 Blue Hens Extend Win Streak to 11 Rich McGuire allowed just two runs to win his fourth game of the season NEWARK, DE -- Rich McGuire threw a complete game in the opener and Andrew Salvo went 3-for-4 in the nightcap as the Delaware baseball team swept two seven-inning games from Princeton, 4-2 and 10-4, Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. McGuire, a junior righthander, allowed just two runs and nine hits in the first game to pick up his fourth win of the season. After falling behind 1-0, Delaware took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run single by Vince Vukovich. The Blue Hens (12-5), who have now won 11 straight games, added single runs in the fourth and fifth on a sacrifice fly by Reid Gorecki and an infield single by John Schneider. Princeton (4-12) got one back in the seventh on a double by Pat Boran, but Max Krance grounded out to Salvo to end the game. Delaware jumped out early in the second game with two first inning runs, as Chris Kolodzey doubled home Casey Fahy and Salvo. An RBI single by Fahy in the second pushed the lead to 3-0 and after the Tigers got two in the top of the third, Nick DeCarlo singled home Kolodzey to make it a 4-2 Hens lead. Princeton threatened in the fourth, but the Tigers were unable to score due to Fahy throwing out Tim Lahey at the plate after a single. Princeton did get two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 5-4, but Delaware put the game away with five unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. Peter Maestrales walked with the bases loaded, and after a sacrifice fly by Kolodzey, Schneider singled home two to give the Hens some breathing room. Jason Vincent allowed four runs in five innings to improve to 4-0 on the season, while Mike Mihalik allowed just one hit in two innings to pick up the first save of his career. Delaware will travel to George Mason Tuesday for a 2:30 game with the Patriots.
