Wilmington Blue Rocks 5, Delaware 1 (Exhibition) April 4, 2002 Blue Rocks win fifth straight over Hens Reid Gorecki scored the Blue Hens lone run of the game WILMINGTON, DE -- Despite an early first inning score, the University of Delaware fell to the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-1 in the fifth annual Delaware Classic exhibition game Thursday night at Frawley Stadium. Reid Gorecki put himself into scoring position with one out in the top of the first inning after he ripped a double down the left field line, then stole third base a few pitches later. Gorecki would score as Steve Van Note, who reached base on a walk, got caught in a rundown attempting to steal second base. The Blue Rocks wasted no time answering back in the bottom of the inning tying the ball game as Donnie Ross drove home Norris Hopper with a bases loaded sacrifice fly. Byron Gettis followed that up by scoring Alejandro Machado with the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice. Wilmington scored three more runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of David DeJesus. Andrew Noe started on the mound for the Blue Hens tossing four innings allowing just one hit and a two unearned runs while striking out four. Ryan Dulaney and Mark Michael also pitched an inning a piece in relief. Delaware (14-12, 1-1 CAA) will resume conference action as UNC Wilmington (19-7, 3-0) pays a visit to Bob Hannah Stadium for a three-game set beginning Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The series then continues Saturday at 1 p.m., and ends Sunday at 1 p.m.      Univ. of Delaware vs Wilm.
