Cal State Northridge 6, Delaware 2 February 22, 2002 Seventh Inning Rally Fuels Matadors Victory Over Blue Hens Doug Eitelman went 3 for 4 Scoring one run in the effort SHREVEPORT, LA -- The University of Delaware baseball team remained winless for the 2002 season as California State University, Northridge erased a one run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to top Delaware 6-2 in the second round of the Shreveport Collegiate Classic at Fair Grounds Field Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hens (0-5) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning and held that advantage until the Matadors (10-4) broke open the game as Jason Gorman ripped a two-out bases loaded double, sparking a three-run seventh inning, putting Cal State Northridge up for good. The Matadors added on two more runs in the eighth to seal the victory. Junior Doug Eitelman (Wilmington, DE/Concord) led the Blue Hens offensive attack going 3-4 with a run scored while Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) has now hit safely in all five games so far this season after going 2 for 5 with one run scored. Shaun Larkin sparked the Matadors offense, hitting 2 for 3 with two runs and one RBI. Delaware starting pitcher Jason Vincent (Seaford, DE/Seaford), had another solid outing allowing just one earned run and striking out four over six innings. The Blue Hens will wrap up tournament play Sunday at 3 p.m Central Standard Time, when they take on #14 Oklahoma State.
