Delaware 6, George Washington 1 March 19, 2002 Rambo Hurls Gem to Gain Win in First Career Start Scott Rambo allowed just one hit in eight innings of work to win his first game as a starter NEWARK, DE -- Redshirt freshman Scott Rambo (Downington/Downingtown, PA) pitched eight inning of one-hit ball to lead the Unversity of Delaware to a 6-1 victory over George Washington University in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. Making his first career start, Rambo, who had pitched nine innings of relief in four previous appearances on the season, shut down the Colonials lineup to the tune of just one hit and one run while striking out six over eight innings to earn his first victory of the year. Rambo started off near flawlessy, holding George Washington (10-9) hitless through 5 1/3 innings, before Colonials catcher Joe Michalski broke up the bid for a no-hitter with a high chopper that sailed over first baseman Steve Harden in the sixth inning. Offensively for the Blue Hens, Doug Eitelman (Concord/Wilmington, DE) collected two hits, including his second home run of the year, and Casey Fahy (Gloucester Catholic/Clayton, NJ) extending his hitting streak to 10 games as he reached base on a triple and infield single. Steve Harden who also hit his second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second inning, came on in relief to retire the side in the ninth inning.
